Hi, I’m Nicholas Brown — the owner and baker here at Brown’s Micro-Bakery. What started as a personal passion for sourdough and homemade comfort food turned into a home-based business rooted in care, creativity, and community.
I began baking sourdough from my kitchen in Monmouth, Illinois, driven by a love for slow food and real ingredients. Over time, what began with a single starter grew into something more meaningful — a way to bring warmth to my neighbors, one loaf at a time.
Every item I make is crafted by hand with intention. Whether it’s a naturally fermented sourdough loaf, a gooey sweet treat, or a small-batch soy wax candle, each product is made to bring a little more joy and comfort into your day.

What Makes Our Products Special
Our sourdough is cold-proofed and naturally leavened for a deep, complex flavor and the perfect crust. Flavors range from our classic loaf to creations like Jalapeño Cheddar, Peach Crisp, S’mores, and more.
We also make sweet treats like chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, and apple pie bites — all baked in small batches using real butter, brown sugar, and care. And to complement the cozy vibe, we hand-pour candles in scents like Sacred Sandalwood, Sugar and Smoke, and Morning Rose using natural soy wax.
